Do you recall what the formal dresses of the 50s, 60s and 70s looked like? While I know that I was not alive during those amazing time periods, there are some other things that I know from some collective research that I have conducted. The formal dresses of today are just as elegant as they have ever been before, but awards ceremonies like the Oscars tell the full story. Every year at these various movie and TV awards ceremonies the talk of the town is who wore the most amazing formal dress, and who broke all of the rules by wearing the most audacious of formal dresses. With this notion in mind, I do present this theory: formal dresses have waned in how much of the body that they cover up over the years, in coincidence with the relaxing conservative views of society. What this means is that these days a really sexy and revealing, tantalizing dress that at one point in history would have been considered catty, now sits appropriately in the formal dress category. But you won’t hear any of us men complaining about it!
