This past weekend during my husband’s birthday party, the topic of women's shoes came up. One thing that I never like to discuss in a group of people is women's shoes, handbags, religion and politics. The last two are dangerous with any crowd, but I knew that as soon as the topic of women's shoes came up that my husband would start talking about how many pairs of shoes that I have, and how I simply must have a new pair of women's shoes with each new outfit that I buy. Granted, it isn’t quite that bad, but it’s close. Most of my close friends know this about me, and accept it as being who I am, plus the ones who have the same shoe size are always happy that there is someone who most always has at least one pair of women's shoes to match an outfit they may want to wear that evening. There were also a couple of my husband’s friends in the group that I’d never met before, so I always feel odd having discussions about how many pair of shoes I may happen to have. Thankfully, I was able to steer the discussion to somewhere else, but I did whisper to my best friend that I’d just bought the most wonderful new pair of shoes that I’d have to show her later when the crowd cleared.
