If you have a teenage daughter you will sooner or later have to go through the preparations for prom and the serach for the perfect formal dress. It is a big deal. My daughter started to look for her prom dress even before she was invited to the prom. Not uncommon, I'm sure! She spent numerous hours on line looking from dress to dress and saving to her favorites the ones that might be "the formal dress" of choice.

When my daughter narrowed it down to only eight dresses, yes eight, we got serious about the "tryng on" stage. This is where a mother learns just how grown up her little girl is. High school, the prom and a formal dress seem to be a passage into young womanhood. It is a time of wonder! And very frightening as well!

My daughter looked magnificent in every formal dress. I did turn a couple down immediatley due to some functional issues like too strapeless, too low cut, too much cut up the thigh. I had to use my motherly veto power here and there. Finally my daughter did find a beautiful formal dress we agreed upon. She matched her boyfriend tie nicely and they were off to the prom!
