formal dressI was born and raised in England and when I was a teen leaving school there was no prom night because it’s an American tradition. In the past few years, however, prom night has taken off in Britain in a big way. I have two female relatives who are leaving secondary school this year and each of them will have a prom night to attend. One of these relatives is my niece Alice. The other relative is my youngest cousin Emma.  Alice, Emma and all of their peers have started worrying about buying their formal dress for the occasion already although it is only February. Some parents are willing to spend several hundred pounds sterling on a formal dress for their daughter’s prom. I think my cousin Emma is getting rather an expensive dress.  My sister’s daughter, Alice, is not getting a very expensive formal dress. You see Alice found a dress she wanted by perusing the web and she got it for a lot less than the recommended retail price. According to my sister Alice’s formal dress is just as pretty as the more expensive ones some of her friends are getting. Yet my sister did not have to spend a small fortune to get it.
