My 10 year old daughter and I went shopping yesterday for clothes and I noticed that she went for all the trendy clothing and turned her nose up at all the traditional things that I would have chosen for her. We were actually going shopping so I could get a few ideas about sizes and also about what to get her, because I knew I could find the trendy clothing online for a better price. What I was not expecting was that she would absolutely reject anything else that wasn’t what she deemed to be trendy clothing. In the car on the way home, I asked her about it and she said that all the girls were wearing cute, trendy clothing and she didn’t want to be left out. She said she would be starting a new school and she wanted to look her best. If I didn’t know better, I would have sworn that she had been talking to her older sister, who will be starting college, since I heard similar words out of her mouth. Needless to say, it looks like I’ll be shopping online for trendy clothes only for my ten year old to begin school with.
